IWKA Certificates are being requested from Okinawa by Friday, July 14th. This certificate registers the individual in Okinawa with Master Shimabuku and the number is used on all IWKA black belt certificates when they are earned. It has been our policy that all Adult Students after earning their Yellow Belt should become a member of this organization. Junior Students may become a member of the organization after obtaining their Purple Belts, but other junior students may register as well.

For members of the IWKA, Master Duessel is creating a WHD Affiliation for our member schools. Master Duessel is committed to helping us advance our training and his affiliation provides a means for us to help him, as he helps us. The cost for membership is $15.00 annually and $15.00 for the membership certificate, each member will also receive an affiliation patch that may be worn above our dojo patch on the right sleeve. I recommend that all adult students become a member of the IWKA and also Master Duessel’s affiliation.

Adult students and Parents - as you must be aware we are working hard on preparing for the 2007 World Championships. One area with which you may help is in the area of Sponsorships. If you know someone or a business that may help us raise the funds necessary to put on an event of this caliber - - let’s talk and reach out to these people NOW. We are doing a great deal for the people and businesses that have become a part of our Championship Team already.

You can do anything you want to do in life if you have a fierce belief in yourself, a strong will, a big heart and some role models to inspire you.

Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues - In the Land of Giants: My Life in Basketball said 87% of Americans say they were born for a reason, but only 13% say they know what that reason is. There are two important days. One when you were born and the other when you discover what you were born to do. If people don't know what they were born to do, they live their life in a confusion of dead-end mazes. So many people are frustrated because they don't have a purpose or a sense of vision for their lives. Do you know who you are? If you don't know who you are, then you don't know what you are here for. You don't know what you are capable of. Its one thing for people to not know who you are, but it's another thing for you not to know who you are! If you don't know who you are then you don't know what you are supposed to do with your life. If you don't know what you are here for, you will never do what you are supposed to do. If you don't know who you are, you will let people call you anything and treat you anyway. Many people today need a rebirth of their self-worth! They need to know that they are unique, that they are special. That they are somebody. The youth of today need to hear that they are not some biological accident. That they are someone, and there is a purpose for their lives. We need to have a purpose. A purpose motivates you. It gets you up in the morning. It keeps you going. If you don't have a goal and a dream, someone else will use you to reach their goals and dreams. It's important to have a purpose. Before a young person can do drugs, they have to assign a lower value to their future. They have to say: "I'm not as important as I thought I was." Self worth is the cornerstone of discipline. No one will discipline himself or herself if they see themselves as a nothing. You need to believe that you are somebody, and that you have a purpose. You are somebody. You are going somewhere.

You must surround yourself with people who have the same purpose. One is too small of a number to produce greatness. There is strength in being with people who have the same purpose. John Wooden said that "The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team!" If you are going to be successful in anything you do, you are going to have to have a team around you. TEAM - together everyone achieves more! Start living your purpose! What brings fulfillment in life is seeing your purpose fulfilled. If you are going to follow the crowd, you better know where the crowd is going. What losers call adversity, winners call opportunity. There is no traffic jam on the extra mile! Men will work eight hours a day for pay. Ten hours a day for a good boss. But twenty-four hours a day for a good cause. If you are going to get to the top you have got to get off your bottom. - Dennis Moore

The future is within the next instant. We do not know what the future will hold for us. Plan today for what will become today, for today becomes yesterday and it is too late to plan. Work for what will be today not tomorrow when it is too late. Once a level is reached we can not rest on our past achievements because if we stop striving to improve and working toward a goal, we do not stay where we are; we begin to move backward - losing ability.
